Fulci Remembered!!

Seriously, who could forget that cranky old Godfather of Gore? Certainly not the 90 or so people interviewed on PAURA - LUCIO FULCI REMEMBERED!

During down time as Supplement Producers for Media Blasters’ Shriek Show line of DVD releases, Mike Baronas & Kit Gavin walked from one end of Rome to the other interviewing folks for a massive Lucio Fulci book of the same name that was to serve as a companion piece to Stephen Thrower’s Beyond Terror.

With that project currently in publishing purgatory, Baronas decided to compile the 4 years worth of on-camera interviews he had accumulated and create this tribute DVD to his long-beloved director and to fans of Fulci’s work in the hope of shedding some light on who really he was, what he was like to work with and what he means to Italian cinema’s rich history.

Nearly 90 of EuroCult's finest answer the question - WHAT IS YOUR FONDEST MEMORY OF FULCI??

Included on the DVD are Interviews with Fabio Frizzi, Riz Ortolani, Carlo Rambaldi, Sergio Salvait, Lamberto Bava, Enzo Castellari, Luici Cozzi, Ruggero Deodata, Umberto Lenzi, Sergio Martino, Bruno Mattei and Michele Soavi - to name a few!

Yeah, its been a month

Crap, I can't believe a whole month went by and I didn't post a single thing. Can I blame the short month - sure!

Well, here is one you won't find at your local Best Buy.

It appears that Ryko Distribution (owned by WEA) has decided that Impulse's (which is really Synapse) release of Schoolgirl Report 3 was too explicit to handle!
Granted Ryko is owned by a giant corporation, so I can undertsand their apprehension to the title, but they do already handle La Bete which contains two horses, eh, uhm, mating and a horny werewolf that gives Peter North a run for his verocity. Not to mention Synapse's IMAGE, which, though tame by today's spit fueled, spinchter stretching AV antics, is still an adult film. When I worked in a video store, this was in the porno section (For the record, I have seen this title in Best Buy!!). And, lets not forget the first two Schoolgirl Report titles, which are more of the same. Anyway, if you love this series, then you are in luck because we do happen to have this, though I suggest snatching it quickly, because I am not entirely sure if or when it will be repressed once the initial print is gone.....

Of course, these can all be ordered at http://www.diabolikdvd.com/ and we usually keep them all in stock!

I was about 12 when Donkey Kong hit the market and although I dumped a fair number of quarters into Donkey Kong, Crazy Kong, Donkey Kong Jr and not to mention Pac Man, Dig Dug, and Centipede, I was always more captivated by the harder to find machines such as Zoo Keeper and Mappy. But, even so, it was impossible to avoid these popular machines shoved into every available corner of just about any shop you would walk into. I never went to the grocery store with my folks without playing Pac Man. A trip for a pizza always ended up in a few games of whatever machine the shop had. And lets not forget that magical boardwalk in Ocean City NJ, with its endless string of bleeping machines calling me to my doom (as long as it wasn't Sunday and the blue laws shut them all down!). Even to this day, I can't help but throw a quarter into a classic machine, pick up a mug or wind up toy at the flea market and especially watch specials about them on G4TV. All that being said, King of Kong is a pretty great documentary that all gaming fans, such as my self, will find immensely enjoyable. You can order it here, with my recommendation. Cloverfield

Sure, the camera work in Cloverfield was annoying as were the characters, but the movie is pretty effective and the monster is a monster! But lets not forget that there would be no giants monsters without our pals in Japan and they have put out some other gems in the past as well.

We can recommend these to you if you want to check out something you may not have seen since watching Creature Features on UHF

and for the price it is impossible to go wrong with this three pack

But if you are a fan of the DIY feel of the movie - which has its admirers (and I still think Blair Witch was creepy despite the backlash), you might want to check out this low budget feature

Death Sentence DVD (James Wan - Unrated DVD)

I got a chance to watch an advance copy of this over the weekend and was so inspired that I wrote a haiku

Revenge is served hot
Quick, Move Over Sizzalean
Bacon is Angry

But seriously, I love the revenge movies of the 80s and I love Kevin Bacon, so I thought I would give this a chance. What took me by suprise is not only how tense the movie is, but also how cool the action scenes are. This isn't just a revenge film, it is a full on action movie. Plus, John Goodman turns in the creepiest performance I have seen all year. Kudos to him for being such a badass. The DVD comes with both the rated and unrated versions on one disc, and although my version said it was the rated version (which runs 10m less than the unrated), I can't believe this is true. Arms fly off, heads split open, and blood flies everywhere. If this is Rated R - then things have loosened up a bit with the MPAA, but more than likely the disc was just mismarked.

You can pre-order the disc from the link above - here is the complete disc description and specs.

Death Sentence DVD (James Wan - Unrated DVD) (NTSC Region 1)

From director James Wan (SAW) comes this balls out, ultra violent, action packed revenge movie featuring elaborate chase and action scenes along with gun fights made extra bloody by the Unrated DVD.
Nick Hume is a loving father with a perfect life, until one gruesome night he witnesses something that changes him forever. Transformed by grief, Hume eventually comes to the disturbing conclusion that no length is too great when protecting his family. Look for John Goodman in the creepiest role of his career as a scumbag gun dealer.
The DVD includes both the theatrical version and an unrated cut (which offers 10 additional minutes), as well as two making-of featurettes that originally aired on the Fox Movie Channel, and several webisodes that focus on director Wan, his cast, and the film's elaborate stunts and fight
