5/31/07 New and updates

Aside from the new
Bigas Luna DVD from Spain
Yo Soy la Juani  and the latest from Unearthed Films
Frankenstein's Bloody Nightmare it was a pretty slow
New Release week, but we did get in plenty of great re-stocks including the now out of print
GRAPHIC COVER AFTERMATH and the discontinued
unrated version of CHAOS

Also TLA Releasing has repriced three titles includingMalcolm McDowell's Evilenko, the Polanski-esque
Next Door and the great and gross
Feed.

And don't forget to check out our Adultsection for lots of new titles as well.  We are very selective as to what we order and rather than make you wade through loads of crap, we try to bring in stuff that you may want to see from both the
Golden
Age
as well as the most recent Jenna Jameson film.  Plus we have broken things down to categories such as Punk andHorror so you can find whatever you are looking for.

Thanks for looking - more to come soon

5/23/07 Updates

Crazy stuff this week that you shouldn't miss as well as some pretty great
restocks.

In the restock dept we have the Russian sensation

DEAD DAUGHTERS
, which basically plays out like a variation on the RING
series, but with its own flair. And also from Russia, we have the US film

KEN PARK
from Larry Clark, which has been out of stock for sometime and now
available again in its uncut glory.

For those of you that are like us, you enjoy the sleazy good ol' days of
42nd St
naughtiness so you won't want to miss two new 'grindhouse"
style collections.  These aren't always the most pristine quality, but it
is a joy to have them and I would feel really sleazy watching these things any
other way

Back in my video store days, I came across lots of films by the
Polonia Brothers, which were pretty bad, but so utterly enjoyable in their
crappiness - so for your pleasure we bring you

SPLATTER FARM
this week. We haven't seen this one, but it has some promising
quotes from the likes of Joe Bob Briggs and
Frank
Henenlotter.

We have quite a few other things that you should certainly check
out, but before we go, we can't recommend

MEATBALL MACHINE
enough. We saw it at the Philadelphia Film Festival last
year and it has stuck with us ever since.  Crazy. Japanese. Cyberpunk.
Lunacy.

Updates!

Lots of new and restocked items this week for you to check out. I keep forgetting that I am doing this blog now, so I keep forgetting to update it! Anway, here is what you should be aware of this week

The Shaw Bros HEAVEN AND HELL is now available domestically. It is a crazy, tripped out Horror/Kung Fu/Mash Up that even includes a musical number - but don't let that distract you because it is really something special. Definetely check this out.

We have restocked the Hong Kong Edition of ARMY OF DARKNESS which, although Region 3, blows away any other version as far as picture quality goes and we have also gotten emails from people saying that this is now out of print, so this very well may be the last batch we get.

I can also recommend to you the UK release of the harrowing Polish film THIRD PART OF THE NIGHT, and the new Kim Ki Duk (ISLE) film TIME which even has some elements of Comedy!

As always, you can check out all of our new releases here - LATEST ARRIVALS

Also, we have up some new PREORDERS this week, which included the 6/19 release of SWEET MOVIE (!!!!) from CRITERION (!!!!) and a 2 disc SE of HOT FUZZ from the UK which is sadly part of a new pricing structure over there - $50 US dollars! But we have discounted it for you as best as we can despite the weak dollar (thanks Bush).

We will be at Monster Mania this weekend, so come by and check out us out.

WE HAVE REASON TO BELIEVE IT'S SUPERCHARGED!

Vanishing Point 1971 / Death Proof

Those of you that enjoyed Tarantino's segment of Grindhouse DEATH PROOF, may have noticed that he name checks the 1971 car chase movie so many times that you have to wonder why he didn't just name his movie Death Point or Vanishing Proof (or for those of that didn't like the film Talk Proof). I have heard of the film, but have never seen it and since I loved Death Proof, I wanted to check out film - and at only $9.99, it is tough not to just pick it up
Vanishing Point DVD (NTSC Region 1)

Aside from a pretty kick ass car chase movie with an engaging lead, Vanishing Point also works on a few other levels, one of which is the way the film is put together and it is obvious that Tarantino loves the structure of the film which can be seen in his own films. Along with that the film also oddly works on a metaphysical midnight movie level as our hero takes sage advice from various people including a crusty old John Huston-esque desert dweller and a nude hippie biker chick. Sadly the film suffers from its own device and grows thin as a 90+ min car chase - like any film that tries to ride one note - but fortunately, it never entirely wears out its welcome and because it apsires to be more than just a car chase film, it works and works well as a 70s cult oddity that never delves into total camp. When Grindhouse makes its way to DVD, I would be curious to watch Death Proof and Vanishing Point together to see how much more they have in common than an initial viewing reveals.

Diabolik DVD - New Stuff and Restocks

We have a lot of new stuff in this week from the amazing Japanese Blind Woman's Curse to the soundtrack to the Evil Dead musical (yes, it really did run off Broadway and is on the way to Toronto) to some crusty old grindhouse softcore with a vehicular theme! The cover alone on Blind Woman should sell you, but it also comes with our recommendation. We also got in some restock Russ Meyer films - small boobies be damned!

You can check them all out here http://www.diabolikdvd.com/category/Latest-Arrivals
and specifically Blind Woman here -

Welcome to DiabolikDVD.com Blog

For those of you new to Diabolik DVD, we are an owner run online DVD shop that specializes in DVDs of horror, cult, arthouse and whatever strikes our fancy. We try to keep our pricing fair, run all aspects of the business ourselves and recycle just about every box and piece of packaging that comes in our door just to try to keep it green.

Anyway, why would we start a blog here rather than just on myspace and our 5000 friends? Because myspace is a total bore and most of those people are just intersted in sending us crap comments rather than seeing what is new in our shop.

So, why should you read our blog? I am ambitious today, but I sincerely hope we will continue to update this area with information about our site, new releases and the occassional special sale that you can only get from this blog.

By the way, make sure to check out www.EXHUMEDFILMS.com if you live anywhere near the Philadelphia area. We do this for fun and we certainly enjoy it, so hopefully you will too - plus Diabolik can bring you some DVDs to the show and you can save on shipping!

All the best and thanks for reading
